Silly City #1: Welcome to New York

My first digital drawing in my Silly City Collection! Welcome to New York!

This one was inspired by the notorious “San Francisco to New York Pipeline” and the unaviodable “which is better?” comparison to which these cities are often subject to. I did this and the sutro one as sketches i had hanging in my dining area but when my friend Brian (an SF native) took a picture of them and couldn’t stop laughing I knew I had to turn it into something bigger!

More about Silly City:

Silly City is a collection of drawings centered around being wrong! Lol! I’ve been thinking about how everything nowadays has a pressure to be branded and pitted agaisnt something else. It is all overblown and too much. But wouldn’t it be funny if the most well known landmarks were completely clueless?

With these oblivious cartoony landmarks I hope to remind people that some things shouldn’t be taken too seriously. And that it is funny to be wrong.
